The Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant in Histopathology to replace a retiring consultant. The successful candidate will join a team of nine consultants and one specialist and will play a key role in delivering a comprehensive cellular pathology service. The position involves up to 8 PAs in cellular pathology and multi-disciplinary team meetings, with additional time allocated for continuing professional development, audits, and administration. The consultant will have responsibilities that include providing high-quality histological and cytological diagnostics, supervising junior doctors, participating in departmental teaching, and engaging in clinical audits and quality assurance activities.

The role offers flexibility, including the possibility of remote work on certain days, and requires collaboration with colleagues to develop services in line with stakeholder needs. Additionally, the consultant is expected to maintain professional expertise through ongoing development, undertake administrative responsibilities related to patient care, and participate in annual appraisals and job planning.
