An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Specialist Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join the Hand Therapy team at Manchester Foundation Trust .
There is a busy regional Hand Unit at Wythenshawe hospital, as well as several other hospitals aligned within Manchester Foundation Trust, which also have hand services. We work closely with highly skilled teams of Plastic and Orthopaedic Surgeons and a skilled hand therapy team comprising of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, pressure garment therapists and support staff.You should have significant experience in Hand Therapy and be an experienced Band 6 or Band 7 therapist with a strong bias towards the management of acute hand trauma.MFT is committed to the Centre for Advancing Practice process for ACP verification, you should be familiar with the HEE ACP National Framework.
Cross site working will be required as part of the Band 7 role, supporting hand services,across Manchester Foundation Trust..
Responsible for the assessment and treatment of plastics and orthopaedic hand trauma and post-operative patients in practitioner led hand clinics. Candidate are expected to assist in consultant clinics.They will also oversee, advise and liaise with the hand rehabilitation and inpatient plastics hand therapy services. You will be expected to complete line management duties and contribute to the expansion and implementation of a Trust wide hand therapy service. You will assist in the leadership of the hand therapy team contributing to their continued professional development through supervision and teaching. You will also have responsibility for the clinical education of other healthcare professionals within the wider team.You will be expected to demonstrate advanced and comprehensive knowledge of the assessment and treatment techniques applicable to patients with a wide variety of hand and wrist conditionsThe successful candidate would be required, after appropriate training if required, to demonstrate competencies in various skills including advanced splinting, interpretation of radiographic imaging, complex clinical reasoning, removal of k-wires and wound care management.You will be expected to have a working knowledge of local and national policies and procedures e.g., Manual Handling, Health and Care Professionals Council Code of Conduct/Ethics, Health and Safety, Infection Control, CPR, Equality and Diversity
